Headlines- May 11, 2007

Here are some of the top stories in the country world at this time:

  • Trisha Yearwood has signed a record deal with Big Machine Records, ending her career-long contract with MCA Records. Trisha's Greatest Hits 2 will be released later on this year on MCA Records, while a brand new studio album will be released on Big Machine Records in 2008.
  • Reba McEntire's long-awaited duets CD, simply titled Duets, will hit stores on September 18th. The disc contains duets with some of music's hottest stars, including Kelly Clarkson, LeAnn Rimes, Justin Timberlake, Faith Hill, and Ronnie Dunn. The first single from the album will hit airwaves on May 15th and it will be a cover of (as well as a duet with) Kelly Clarkson's pop hit "Because of You".
  • Speaking of Reba, she will be, once again, hosting this year's ACM Awards live from Las Vegas this coming Tuesday (May 15th) night. The last round of performers and presenters were announced today and added to the performers list are Faith Hill, Big & Rich (w/ John Legend), Martina McBride, and Toby Keith, while Kellie Pickler, Joe Nichols, Chris Young, Heartland, Craig Morgan, Sara Evans, and Brad Mates (of Emerson Drive) will present awards. Also coming through the grapevine today is word that Shania Twain will be making an appearance at the ACM Awards, so you may want to catch the awards this Tuesday night, May 15th, 8 PM EST on CBS.
  • America done went and broke Billy Ray CyAlign Centerrus' "Achy Breaky Heart" on Tuesday night when he was voted off of ABC's reality show, Dancing With the Stars.
  • Blake Shelton's latest CD, Pure BS, was released on May 1st and saw first week sales of 48k, while Shelton's girlfriend Miranda Lambert's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, also released on May 1, sold just a few more copies that Blake, selling a total of 52k in its first week.
